Best 110-Volt Mini Split (115V Plug-In Circuit Picks)

The best 110-volt mini split for most buyers is the Senville LETO 12K if you are hiring an installer, or the MRCOOL DIY 5th Gen 12K if you want a quick-connect kit. Either way, 115V does not mean plug-in. AC Direct says existing outlets cannot be used, and these systems need their own circuit. Pioneer says 115V is limited to 9,000 and 12,000 BTU single-zone wall units in its range.

Best 115V with a pro install#1

Senville LETO 12K (115V)

A Budget-tier 115V system for buyers who are hiring an installer anyway. Senville’s very low bottom fan setting makes it a natural bedroom candidate, as long as winters stay above its 5°F rating.

Why it stands out

  • Brand-rated 21.2 SEER2 on a 115V circuit.
  • Brand-rated 17.5 dB indoors at the lowest fan setting and 25 dB on low.
  • 5-year parts and 5-year compressor warranty, subject to Senville’s install terms.
Capacity12,000 BTU
SEER221.2
Power115V
Heat rated to5°F
InstallLicensed pro required by the brand

Good fit if

  • A bedroom or home office up to about 550 sq ft.
  • You already have an installer lined up.
  • Winters rarely get near 5°F.

Skip it if

  • You plan to install it yourself: Senville says DIY installation voids the warranty.
  • Winters regularly go below 5°F.

This listing has been around for years. Senville’s current page shows R-454B; confirm the refrigerant and included kit on the product page.

Best 115V DIY#2

MRCOOL DIY 5th Gen 12K

This is the sensible first system to look at if you are buying online. The kit ships with a 25 ft pre-charged quick-connect line set, the brand rates heating down to −13°F, and MRCOOL states its DIY warranty does not depend on a licensed contractor. You can still hire one, and many buyers should.

Why it stands out

  • Brand-rated 23.5 SEER2 and heat operation to −13°F on a 115V circuit.
  • Longest included line set in the MRCOOL DIY family: 25 ft, pre-charged, with a brand-stated no-vacuum connection.
  • 5-year parts and 7-year compressor warranty per MRCOOL, with no registration required; labor is not covered.
Capacity12,000 BTU
SEER223.5

Install25 ft pre-charged quick-connect kit

Good fit if

  • One room up to about 550 sq ft (the brand’s figure).
  • You want a warranty that does not rest on a licensed install.
  • You can put in a dedicated 115V, 20A circuit.

Skip it if

  • Price matters most: a professionally installed LETO or Serena costs less to buy.
  • You have no dedicated circuit and no electrician lined up. It does not plug into a wall outlet.

EPA’s published Q&A says connecting pre-charged lines on an R-410A mini split requires Section 608 certification. Some sellers say otherwise for quick-connect kits. This system uses R-454B and we found no EPA statement on such kits, but EPA’s Section 608 page says the rules cover substitutes such as HFCs, so do not assume the R-410A answer leaves it out. Check with EPA and your local code office before you self-install.

Best lower-cost 115V with a −13°F rating#3

DELLA Optima 12K (115V)

A lower-cost 115V route to a −13°F rating. It is pre-charged but not a no-vacuum kit: DELLA’s FAQ says you need to vacuum the system during installation, so plan on an HVAC technician.

Why it stands out

  • Brand-rated 23 SEER2 and −13°F climate range on 115V.
  • 12,000 BTU cooling and 12,400 BTU heating per DELLA.
  • Lifetime parts coverage if registered within 100 days, per DELLA; non-professional installs get replacement parts only.
Capacity12,000 BTU
SEER223
Power115V
Heat rated to−13°F
InstallPre-charged line; brand says vacuum needed

Good fit if

  • You will have the system vacuumed or hired out.
  • You need cold-weather range on a 115V circuit.

Skip it if

  • You want no vacuum pump: “pre-charged” does not mean no-vacuum here.
  • Your circuit cannot match the brand’s 25A max fuse.

MRCOOL DIY Select 12K

The lowest-cost route into MRCOOL’s no-vacuum range. MRCOOL’s own FAQ calls Select the most cost-effective option in its DIY lineup, and you give up line length, efficiency and warranty term to get there.

Why it stands out

  • Pre-charged quick-connect kit on a 115V circuit, for rooms up to about 550 sq ft per the brand.
  • Brand-rated 17.5 SEER2, the lowest in this guide but above ENERGY STAR’s 15.2 floor for split heat pumps.
  • Very low brand-rated indoor sound at the lowest fan setting: 17.5 dB.
Capacity12,000 BTU
SEER217.5
Power115V
Heat rated toNot stated by brand
Install11.5 ft pre-charged quick-connect kit

Good fit if

  • The outdoor unit can sit within 11.5 ft of line run.
  • A lower purchase price matters more than warranty length.

Skip it if

  • You need a longer line: 11.5 ft is short and cannot be cut or extended in the field without breaking the seal.
  • You want a longer warranty: MRCOOL lists 1 year parts and 2 years compressor.
  • You need a stated low-temperature rating: we could not find one for this model.

We found no established no-vacuum system under our $900 Budget line, so the lower-cost DIY choice sits in the Mid-range tier. MRCOOL Easy Pro 9K

A small-room quick-connect system for a bedroom, office or sunroom. MRCOOL lists coverage up to 400 sq ft, which lines up with ENERGY STAR’s room chart at 9,000 BTU.

Why it stands out

  • 9,000 BTU cooling and 10,000 BTU heating per the brand, on 115V.
  • Brand-rated 20.2 SEER2 and heat operation to −13°F.
  • Brand-rated 18 dB indoors at the lowest fan setting.
Capacity9,000 BTU
SEER220.2
Power115V
Heat rated to−13°F
InstallPre-charged quick-connect; length varies by version

Good fit if

  • A room up to about 400 sq ft where you want a no-vacuum kit.
  • You have, or can add, a dedicated 115V circuit.

Skip it if

  • You will hire an installer anyway: a LETO 9K costs less.
  • The warranty term matters: it depends on the version shipped (see below).

MRCOOL sells this in two versions. The 11.5 ft kit carries 3 years parts and 5 years compressor; the 16 ft kit carries 1 and 2. Check which one the listing ships.

Have you checked the circuit?

Each of these lists a 20A or 25A max fuse, on a circuit of its own. Ask an electrician before you order.

Tips

Three things that make the difference

01

Do not reuse an outlet

Filterbuy says every unit needs its own circuit and cannot plug into a wall outlet. Plan for a licensed electrician and a disconnect in sight of the unit, as Filterbuy cites from the NEC.

02

Compare fuse ratings

MRCOOL lists a 20A max fuse on its 115V 12K, while DELLA lists 25A on its Optima. Match the nameplate to the circuit rather than to the voltage alone.

03

Use 230V if you can

Pioneer’s support team says 230V is generally preferable if you can install either, while saying there is no significant performance difference at the same BTU rating.

Honest note

115V is a convenience, not an upgrade. It caps your size choices, and it still means new wiring. If a 230V circuit is close to your panel, the wider range of systems is usually worth a look. Our 18,000 BTU MRCOOL listing is one example: its title says 115V, but MRCOOL’s catalog says 230V, so verify.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Can a 110-volt mini split plug into a regular outlet?

No. AC Direct says existing outlets cannot be used and Filterbuy says every unit needs its own circuit. The systems here list max fuses of 20A or 25A. A licensed electrician should add the circuit and a disconnect, and local code applies.

What is the difference between 110V, 115V and 120V mini splits?

In this context, they all describe the same standard household voltage class. Brands label the systems here as 115V, and shoppers often search for 110-volt. What matters is the nameplate’s circuit requirement, such as a 20A max fuse, and that the unit gets its own circuit.

Is a 115V mini split weaker than 230V?

Not at the same BTU rating, according to Pioneer, which says there is no significant performance difference. The real limit is size: Pioneer offers 115V only at 9,000 and 12,000 BTU single-zone wall units. Pioneer also says 230V is generally preferable if you can install either.

What size room can a 115V mini split handle?

Up to about 550 sq ft at 12,000 BTU on ENERGY STAR’s chart, and that matches MRCOOL’s figure for its 12K. A 9,000 BTU model suits about 350–400 sq ft. Sun, insulation and ceiling height move those numbers, so verify with a load calculation.

Do 115V mini splits heat well in winter?

It depends on the model rather than the voltage. MRCOOL rates its DIY 12K to −13°F and DELLA its Optima to −13°F, while Senville rates its LETO 12K to 5°F. Heating output falls as it gets colder, so check the capacity table for your climate.

Can I run a 115V mini split on solar?

Some brands sell solar hybrid models, but they are a different class of product. EG4 says its unit can run on solar during the day with AC power at night or in low sun. Treat claims such as very high hybrid SEER as marketing rather than certified ratings.
